Official Cambridge IGCSE

IGCSE stands for International General Certificate of Secondary Education. It’s one of the world’s most recognised secondary school qualifications. The IGCSE was developed over 30 years ago and is offered by leading exam boards like Cambridge International Examinations. These boards set the syllabus and mark the exams, making sure the qualification is trusted worldwide by universities and employers.
One of the best things about IGCSE is how flexible it is. Instead of a fixed list of subjects, students get to choose from a wide range.
Subjects usually fall into these groups:
- Languages: English First and Second language, Malay as a Foreign Language, and Mandarin as a Foreign Language
- Humanities: History, Geography, Economics, and Business Studies
- Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Combined Science
- Mathematics: Mathematics, Core Mathematics, and Additional Mathematics
- Creative & Practical Subjects: Art & Design, Music, Drama, Sports, and ICT
Students usually choose core subjects like English, Maths and Malay, then pick electives that match their interests and future plans. The IGCSE style of learning focuses more on critical thinking, and application of knowledge.
